Is it cold?

Diving in the north coast of Scotland is naturally cold, with water temperatures typically around 7-12 degrees. That said, you will be in either a wetsuit or drysuit, which makes a big difference to your comfort in the water. It’s not warm, but with the right kit many people find they’re perfectly comfortable once they’re in the water.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring your own wetsuit or drysuit if you have one, along with a towel, a change of clothes, and something to eat or drink for after the dive. We may have wetsuits available for hire at an additional charge, although options are limited and subject to availability.

Do I need my own diving equipment?

No, you do not need to have your own diving equipment. We provide most of the equipment you will need, but we do ask that participants bring their own wetsuit or drysuit where possible. If you do have your own equipment, you are very welcome to use it, provided it has been checked and approved by your instructor.

What are the age limits?

Age limits vary depending on the course, but the minimum age is 10 years old. For younger participants, parental consent is required.

Do I need to be able to swim?

What is the minimum fitness level required?

A reasonable level of fitness is required to participate safely in diving activities. All participants must also complete a medical questionnaire before diving, and any relevant medical conditions may need to be discussed before the activity can go ahead.

Where do we meet?

We will normally confirm the meeting point the day before your dive. However, as conditions can change, the dive site may need to be altered at short notice for health and safety reasons. If this happens, we will contact you as soon as possible and provide updated instructions.

Rain and light winds generally do not affect our operations. However, if sea conditions present a health and safety risk, we will adapt our plans. Where possible, we will relocate to a more sheltered dive site. If conditions remain unsuitable, we will work with you to reschedule your booking for a safer time.

Generally, parking is not an issue, though availability does vary depending on the specific dive site or slipway we are using on the day. While a few of our more remote coastal locations have a limited number of spaces, we manage our trip logistics carefully to ensure smooth arrivals. If we are heading to a site with tighter parking constraints, our team will advise you in advance.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, you are very welcome to bring a friend along! The North Coast is beautiful, and there are plenty of fantastic spots for them to relax, take photos, and enjoy the scenery. We just ask that spectators follow the guidance of our shore cover team to ensure they remain in safe viewing areas while heavy gear is being moved. Please keep in mind that our coastal weather can be highly changeable and some shore locations have limited shelter, so we recommend your guests dress warmly and wear sensible footwear.

We prioritise low student-to-instructor ratios to ensure maximum safety, efficient learning, and plenty of direct contact time in the water. We pride ourselves on offering a highly personalised service, and we are happy to tailor multi-dive schedules to suit your individual goals, experience level, and timeframe wherever possible. While our itineraries are naturally subject to local weather conditions and standard safety limits, we work closely with you to build a flexible plan that maximises your time in the water. What if I need more time or extra dives to pass my course?

Your safety, confidence, and comfort in the water are our absolute priorities.
Our training courses are structured around standard time and dive allocations that allow most students to comfortably master the required skills. However, everyone learns at their own pace, and there is no pressure to rush.
If our instructional team feels you would benefit from additional practice, or if you simply want more time to feel fully confident before certification, we will happily tailor extra sessions for you.

How it works: We will pinpoint the specific skills or areas you want to focus on and arrange additional sessions as needed. 
Fees: Because these extra sessions fall outside the standard course package, they are charged separately on a per-session or per-dive basis. This fee covers supplemental instructor time, facility access, and any required gear/cylinder rentals.
